Treat provides a visually friendly onboarding experience to help you know what steps to take and what activities are coming up for you to successfully begin to e-prescribe. In compliance with legal and state regulations, Treat helps you onboard quickly in a step by step walk through of all the activities required based on your selected e-prescribing license. The onboarding hub is a central location for all the onboarding activities associated to your license and can help you decide whether to complete all the activities in one sitting or one at a time, at your convenience. This guide will help support you during your onboarding experience and can be used as a reference.
Treat has a total of 2 activities for an E-Rx license and 6 activities for an EPCS license that need to be completed to e-prescribe. Each activity will have tasks associated before moving on to the next activity. Below is an overview of the activities required for each license.

Create Treat Account
Whether E-Rx or EPCS, the onboarding begins with the Create Treat Account activity. This is more commonly initiated through an invitation from the facility administrator to your email address. The activity has four small tasks to be completed. Check your inbox for an email from Bravado Health with the subject line "Create your Treat Account". Open the email and click ACCEPT INVITATION to begin.
Note: Check your junk and spam folders if you can’t find it right away.
This activity should take about 5 to 10 minutes. If you are interrupted at any time, you can pick up where you left off by logging in here with your new Treat ID username/email and password or returning to the email. Each task is labeled with a number to help visually inform you how many tasks the activity has.
Tasks:
- Enter Your Personal Information
- Create Your Treat ID
- Choose Your Practice Address
- This is the address you will be using to e-prescribe from
- Add a Medical License
- The final step of creating your Treat account is a medical license verification. A verification of your state’s medical license must be successful to move on to the next activity. Treat will prompt you with an error if the verification is unsuccessful. Note that an unsuccessful verification will require help from our Support team.
- Review your license information by entering your NPI in the registry, https://npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov/, to help prevent any errors during this first essential check. Keep these tips in mind:
- Enter full name as it is registered with your state’s medical board. This includes spelling, special characters, middle name, and additional last names.
- Confirm your State License Number and format. This includes numbers, spaces, designations (which may be included in your state license number), and dashes (-) followed by additional numbers.
- Additional state licenses may be added in your Settings once successfully onboarded.
Once completed, Treat will move you to the Onboarding Hub where you will see an overview of all the activities and their status for your e-prescribing license.
If you will be prescribing only non-controlled substances (E-Rx license), the hub will only display two activities: Create Treat Account and Identity Verification. If you will be prescribing both, non-controlled and controlled substances (EPCS license), the hub will display all six activities, as shown above.
Identity Verification
The Identity Verification activity has one main task from our identity verification partner, Evident. To verify your identity, Evident asks you submit an image of your identification, driver’s license preferred, as well as selfie or photo of yourself to compare the two. To begin, check your inbox for an email from Bravado Health with the subject line "Treat Identity Verification" and click Begin Now.
Note: Evident will prompt you through instructions on their Sure Portal to take an image of your government ID, as well as a video selfie. These should be done within Evident’s portal, not from your phone’s “Camera” application. Option to upload is not available. You will need to provide your mobile browser with permissions to your camera though when taking the photo.
This activity should take about 10 to 15 minutes. If you are interrupted at any time, you can return to the email to continue.
Task:
- Complete Evident’s government issued ID and video selfie steps.
Once you have verified your identity with Evident, you are ready to log in to Treat and start e-prescribing non-controlled substances.
Mobile Device Set-up
The mobile device set up activity has one main task which is to link the Okta Verify app to your Treat account for multi factor authentication. Regulations require prescribers to electronically sign every time a controlled substance is prescribed by completing a Multi Factor Authentication (MFA). You may also know this to be, Two Factor Authentication. This activity will guide you on how to set up your mobile device for MFA. To begin, check your inbox for an email from our partner, Okta, with the subject line “Treat Mobile Device Set-Up” and click Activate Okta Account. Note that you will need to set up an account with Okta and download the Okta Verify app.
This activity should take about 10 to 15 minutes. If you are interrupted at any time, you can return to the email to continue.
Task:
- Follow the instructions to activate your Okta Account.
Once you have completed all the steps with Okta, log in to Treat to return to the onboarding hub. Note that the hub will appear every time you log in when there are activities that have not been completed.
Facility Approval
The Facility Approval activity must be completed by the Facility Approver, an individual that your facility has assigned to complete this task. To comply with e-prescribing regulations, a designated individual in your facility or a facility approver, must confirm that you meet all the eligibility requirements to prescribe controlled substances. The approver must acknowledge and confirm all the below for an EPCS prescriber:
- Prescriber has a valid medical or advanced practice nursing license issued by the state in which the facility is located.
- Prescriber has a valid DEA number
- Prescriber has completed identify verification
- Prescriber has set up a Multi Factor Authorization
At this point, an email has been sent to the facility approver to review your requisites and grant you prescribing permissions. Once approved, you may move on to the next activity.
Multi Factor Authentication
The Multi Factor Authentication activity is one quick task to test and verify your mobile device set up. This will confirm that you are able to electronically sign for controlled substances. From the hub, click the GET STARTED button to begin.
Task:
- Enter your password
- Select your preferred method of authentication
- Select CONTINUE
- In your mobile device, acknowledge the notification from Okta or enter the code available in your Okta Verify app.
Account Verification
The Account Verification activity is the last step in the onboarding process and acts a way to validate your account. A code will be sent to your NPI registered phone number via text message. If you did not receive a code, a Bravado Health team member will contact you shortly.
Task:
- Enter the code
- This code expires shortly after it is sent, so enter it as soon as you receive it to avoid additional delays with e-prescribing.
